I have an New Business Check List that will help you get organised. It’s developed over the years so if you think there is something missing please let me know and I’ll add it. However, that is not the main point of this post.
I can’t stress enough the importance of getting the detail right on your content. Time and time again people agonise over the company name, or the right colours for their brand, choosing photos that represent them, after all that is the exciting bit … but then once agreed just quickly do the rest of the admin. Yes, a nice looking business card might capture someone’s interest but it’s no good if the website address is wrong or the email and they can’t get hold of you – It’s the detail that is going to land you the job!!
So before you press live on your website, or print on your business cards double check the most important contact details:
- Phone number
- Email address
- Website
If these details are wrong and people can’t get hold of you …. they will just go elsewhere. You only get one shot if someone has been handed your business card and they want to contact you. If they don’t hear from you they will just assume you are not as professional as you claimed and bin your card and you will never know about that ideal client.
So my plea today is:
Devote as much time to the content as you do the design.
